Mariano Fortuny, inventor of pleats.

Together with his wife and muse, Henriette Negrin, Mariano Fortuny invented a technique to pleat silk and created the legendary Delpho’s gown, defying all fashion trends of the time. This deceptively simple, yet highly sophisticated design broke the mold of the constrains of woman’s fashion at the time and liberated the female form, forever changing the face of fashion.
Until today no one has been able to perfectly replicate the original pleating technique used by Mariano Fortuny.

Fun fact
“ Delphos where always made like a puddle , they where much longer then the womans height.”
Tip
To preserve delphos and pleated garments the trick is to twist them untill you get a knot that holds itself and then place it in to a box and let it rest.
Anyone else obsessed with Delpho’s ?
